- Up to 65% of eligible costs, or up to 85% for Gozo-based businesses
- An extra €20,000 for Gozo, family businesses, social enterprises, or female-owned businesses

- Undertakings employing 1 to 50 people
- Eligible for de minimis State aid
- Max €65,000 per applicant over 3 years (subject to the €300,000 EU de minimis ceiling across schemes)
How to apply
Applications open 1 January 2027 through Malta Enterprise's client portal, during an open submission period, one application per year, with costs groupable across up to 3 consecutive years. We help identify which of your planned investments qualify before you apply.

% of eligible costsCash grants and tax credits for industrial research and experimental development. AI product development, ML model research, and proprietary AI systems all qualify. EUREKA Network endorsement unlocks additional support.
Xjenza Digital Innovation Programme 2026
€225,000Xjenza Malta's third call for digital innovation research grants. AI is Priority Area 1 with 7 sub-areas. Up to €225,000 per project for 24-month research programmes. Consortium applications welcome.
